Project Recipe
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Crumb Cake Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Copper Clay Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" from Crumb Cake Cardstock
- 1" x 3-3/4" from Crumb Cake Cardstock
- 3/4" x 3-3/4" from Copper Clay Cardstock
Rub a Blending Brush across the open Copper Clay Ink Pad to get it inky. Rub most of the ink off on Grid Paper. Very lightly rub the inky Blending Brush across the edges of the large Crumb Cake rectangle so the center of the rectangle remains mostly uninked. Get more ink on the Blending Brush as needed.
Mount the branch image from the Perched In A Tree Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the blended, horizontal Crumb Cake rectangle at a slight angle so the branch tips are on the right and are about 1" from the right side and the end of the branch along the bottom is about 1" from the bottom of the rectangle. Don't worry if the branch end does quite reach the left edge.
Mount the bird image from the Perched In A Tree Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the blended and stamped Crumb Cake rectangle so it appears to be perched on the branch so the smaller foot is about 1" from the point where the branch splits into smaller twigs.
Place the stamped and blended Crumb Cake rectangle on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Light and Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends to color in the bird's belly.
Use the Medium Deep Natural Tones Stampin' Blends to color in the bird's wing and tail and the branch.
Use the Medium Natural Tones Stampin' Blends to color in the bird's breast, head, and feet/legs.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends as needed to remove excess color..
Use the fine tip of the Copper Clay Stampin' Write Marker to color in the bird's beak and eye.
Mount the more solid splatter image from the Perched In A Tree Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Cherry Cobbler Ink Pad. Stamp off on Grid Paper. WITHOUT RE-INKING, stamp it over the twigs at the end of the branch.
Mount the dotty splatter image from the Perched In A Tree Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Copper Clay Ink Pad. Stamp it a couple of times over the solid splatter image over the twigs at the end of the branch remembering to re-ink each time.
Unlock the Happy Labels Pick A Punch. Slide one short edge of the Crumb Cake strip into the left side of the punch (the side of the punch with the small, rounded scallops) as far as it will go and get it centered. Punch. Leave the punch unlocked.
Slide one short edge of the Copper Clay strip into the left side of the unlocked Happy Lables Pick A Punch (the side of the punch with the small, rounded scallops) as far as it will go and get it centered. Punch.
Rub the Blending Brush across the open Copper Clay Ink Pad again to get it inky. Rub most of the ink off on Grid Paper. Very lightly rub the inky Blending Brush across the edges of the punched Crumb Cake strip so the center of the strip remains mostly uninked. Get more ink on the Blending Brush as needed.
Tip: I just clean my Blending Brushes when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Mount the "with deepest sympathy" sentiment from the Something Fancy Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Copper Clay Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the punched and blended Crumb Cake strip so the punched edge is on the right and the right edge of the sentiment is about 1/4" from the right edge of the strip.
Adhere the punched Copper Clay strip to the back of the punched, blended, and stamped Crumb Cake strip so about 1/8" of Copper Clay shows on the right (punched) side and it is centered top to bottom.
Cut a 13" piece of the Copper Clay jute from the 2023-2025 In Color Jute Trim.
Fold the jute trim in half. Tie it around the left end of the layered sentiment strip about 1/4" from the left end of the sentiment using a knot. Trim the ends.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment strip with jute trim tied on to the lower left side of the completed Crumb Cake rectangle so the bottom of the strip is about 1/4" from the bottom of the rectangle and there is about 1/4" of strip between the jute trim and the left edge of the rectangle. Make sure you cover the end of the branch.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off excess cardstock on the left edge of the rectangle.
Adhere the Crumb Cake rectangle with sentiment strip attached to the center of the Copper Clay rectangle and then to the front of the Crumb Cake card.
