P retty birthday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Orchid Oasis Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Starry Sky Carstock
- 3" x 3-7/8" of various closely packed flower and leaf stems on beige background design from Perennial Lavender 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper, cut so the stems are vertical on the horizontal rectangle
- 2-1/4" x 2-3/4" from Orchid Oasis Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 3" from Shaded Spruce Cardstock
- 3" x 6" from Pretty Peacock Cardstock
- 1" x 3" from Orchid Oasis Cardstock
- 9/16" x 3-1/4" from Orchid Oasis Cardstock
Mount the "field notes" image from the Notes Of Nature Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Starry Sky Ink Pad. Stamp it in the upper right corner of the large, vertical Starry Sky rectangle.
Mount the grid paper image from the Notes Of Nature Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Pretty Peacock Ink Pad. Stamp it a couple of times on the upper left side of the previously stamped rectangle so it overlaps the "field notes" image a bit on the left side and goes off the top and left edges. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time.
Adhere the piece of Perennial Lavender Designer Paper to the bottom of the stamped Starry Sky rectangle so a thin line of Starry Sky shows on the bottom, left, and right edges.
Cut a 4-3/4" piece of the Orchid Oasis 1/8" Metallic Woven Ribbon. Lay the ribbon across the matted cardstock/designer paper rectangle so it is about 1" from the bottom. Fold the ends of the ribbon over and secure the ribbon in place on the back with strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape pieces and add Stampin' Seal to the back of the Starry Sky rectangle. Adhere the rectangle to the front of the Orchid Oasis card.
As you are ready to stamp using the Painted Lavender Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the large bunch of 7 lavender flower stems image from the Painted Lavender Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Orchid Oasis Ink Pad. BEFORE STAMPING, lightly roll the edges of the inked up stamp around on the open Starry Sky Ink Pad. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp it in the center of the large Orchid Oasis rectangle.
Pick out the matching bunch of lavender flower stems die from the Painted Lavender Dies. Put it on top of the stamped lavender flowers bunch image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine.
Mount the large bunch of stems image from the Painted Lavender Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Pretty Peacock Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the Shaded Spruce rectangle.
Pick out the matching bunch of stems die from the Painted Lavender Dies. Put it on top of the stamped bunch of stems image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine.
Note: If you find it easier, cut out the bunch of stems first and then stamp the image on the cut out.
Use a tiny bit of Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen on the back of the stems cut out at the very top to adhere the stems cut out to the bottom of the flower bouquet cut out so they just overlap.
Pick out the large stems and leaves die from the Painted Lavender Dies. Put it on top of the Pretty Peacock rectangle on one edge on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces as needed. Repeat on the other edge. Then, repeat again along the bottom of the rectangle so you get the top of the stems and leaves.
Pick out the smaller stems and flowers die from the Painted Lavender Dies. Put it on top of the 1" x 3" Orchid Oasis rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces as needed.
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the lavender bouquet and stems and leaves pieces on the card front to figure out spacing and layout.
When happy with the arrangement, use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen and/or Stampin' Seal to adhere the pieces in place as shown.
Tip: I like to leave the ends of the stems and leaves un-adhered so they can pop up a bit for texture.
Unlock the Happy Labels Pick A Punch. Slide one short edge of the remaining thin Orchid Oasis strip into the right side of the punch (the side of the punch with the smaller scallops) as far as it will go and get it centered. Punch. Punch on the other end as well.
Mount the "today is all about you Happy Birthday" sentiment from the Notes Of Nature Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Starry Sky Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the punched Orchid Oasis strip.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the punched sentiment strip to the front of the card as shown so it is centered over the ribbon on the right side and is about 3/8" from the right edge of the card.
Cut a 2-1/2" piece of the Orchid Oasis 1/8" Metallic Woven Ribbon.
Slide one end of the ribbon under the ribbon already on the card front so it is centered between the left side of the sentiment strip and the left side of the card. Tie in place with a half knot. Trim and fray the ends.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 3 large butterflies from a sheet of Brushed Brass Butterflies making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them randomly to the card front as shown.
