Project Recipe
Cut your card base: 4 1/4 x 11" in Real Red
Cutting outside layers:
Cut 2 - 7/8" x 4 1/4" in Black
Cutting drawers:
Cut 4 - 1" x 2" in Black
Cutting bottom Layers:
Cut 1 - 7/8" x 4 1/8" in Black
Cutting your Step Card Base
Place your left side of the card stock (short side) on the 1" marker of your cutter. Do a vertical cut from 1" on the ruler down to 6 1/2" on the ruler. Flip your card stock over and cut the other side the same 1" down to 6 1/2".
Scoring your Step Card Base:
a.) Turn your card base horizontally (long side) and place across the top of your cutter on the 1" mark . Score the outside edge of the card base up to but not through the cut line. Flip the card stock over and score at the 1" mark on the other side of the card.
b.) Score the same as above at the 2" mark on both sides of the card.
c.) Move your card to the 6 1/2 " mark and score across the card.
d.) Now go back and at the 5 1/2" mark, score inside the two cut lines.
Folding your base card:
a.) At the 1", 5 1/2" and 6 1/2" score lines, fold all as a mountain fold.
b.) At the 2" score lines, fold a valley fold.
With a 3/4" round circle punch cut two circles in the silver foil paper.
Cut the two circles in half. The will be used for the handles on the tool cabinet.
Bottom Layer of Card:
On the bottom black layer, take the embossing buddy over your black layer. Use versa mark ink and stamp the layer with the "Happy Father's Day" stamp or the stamp of your choosing.
Use silver embossing powder to cover the versa mark and then heat it.
Assembling Drawers:
Use glue, snail tape, or glue dots to add the silver foil handle to each drawer.
Use dimensionals on the back of each drawers but, do not put a dimensional in the top center of the drawer since this is where the tool will go. Attach the drawers to the card.
Stamping and Cutting Tools:
You will cut out silver foil and real red tools for each tool except the wrench and you will only cut it out of silver foil.
Stamp your real red card stock with the tool stamps using memento black ink (except for the wrench). Cut your tools out the big shot.
The silver foil paper does not have to be stamped. Just place your die cuts on it and run it through the big shot.
You will want to line the ruler up at the edge of silver paper since the die cut is for embossing only and does not actually cut the ruler out. The ruler has to be manually cut.
You should be able to cut your ruler in half so that you have two of them.
You will also want to cut out 2 or 3 screws and , rings out of the silver foil paper to add to the card as well.
Layering Tools with Real Red Card Stock:
a.) Cut the top portion of the red hammer off and them glue the handle portion to the top of the silver hammer.
b.) Cut the top portion of the real red screw driver off and attach the red handle to the top of the silver screw driver.
c.) Cut the saw handle of the real red card stock and attach the handle to the silver saw.
You will have to fussy cut the teeth of the saw blade. Sorry!
Assembling Card:
a.) Adhere all layers to the base card.
b.) Place your tools in the inside of each drawer so that they are hanging out the drawer.
c.) The drawer I put the screw driver in I also added a few screws and rings coming out the drawer. I attached them with glue dots.
d.) Hang the ruler and saw on the sides of the tool cabinet. I used black brads to hang them with.
