T his technique can be used with any coordinating paper you chose. Once you make the basic card, you can decorate them with any die cuts, tags, sentiments, and embellishments. They can vary as much or as little as you like. I used my punches to finish off my cards.
Project Recipe
Measurements of Materials
5 ½” x 8 ½” White Cardstock (CS) Scored at 4 ¼” – (Cut 3)
5 ¼” x 4” Crumb Cake CS (Cut 3)
6” x 6” One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Series Paper (DSP) – 3 Sheets
Cut and Score all pieces.
Scraps of Black, White, Gray, Oxidized Copper, etc. CS as needed to cut out the tags and die cuts.
Assembling the Cards
• Stack the 3 sheets of DSP together. If any sheets are directional or have a feature you don’t want to cut, place it on the top of the stack.
• Cut the stack of DSP into 3 ¾” x 5”. The 2 ¼” pieces can be used on the envelope flap and the 1” piece can be used inside the card.
• This part may feel uncomfortable, but you will make the next 2 cuts without measuring. I cut diagonally from the top left-hand side to the lower right-hand side. Set aside the smaller pieces.
• Cut diagonally from the middle of the remaining piece to the top of the paper.
• Shuffle the pieces so that one piece of each DSP sheet is on a piece of cardstock.
• Adhere the DSP to the CS.
• Adhere the whole thing to the card base.
• Shuffle the pieces so that one piece of each DSP sheet is on a piece of cardstock.
• Adhere the DSP to the CS.
• Stamp the sentiment onto white CS and tags as desired.
• Punch or die cut decorations as desired and attach to the front of the card,
Embellish as Desired! I used the plant branches, ribbon, and snowflakes. Use your imagination to embellish as desired.
Using the same technique, I made these alternative cards. I used the Joy of Christmas DSP, Rocking Horse Bundle, and Earthen Textures Bundle.
