Stationary Card Box |
P
LEASE DON'T SHY AWAY FROM THIS PROJECT - It has a lot of pieces, but you CAN accomplish it if you try.
This box contains 5 standard A2 Cards, 5 Note Cards, and 5 Gift Tags, as well as a post-it pad for jotting down personal reminders and a pen. Use your favorite DSP and embellish as much or as little as you desire. It's a fun gift to give.
NOTE: As of today (9/21/22) I have several kits left over from my class. The kits have all the paper, cardstock, and ribbon pre-cut and ready for assembly. Contact me at CrafTime@myyahoo.com for details.
Have you ever started a project and mid-way through you discover, you don't have enough supplies? This project has so many pieces that I totaled up the paper so you can prepare properly. You will need:
(2) 12” x 12” Sheets of Thick Cardstock (CS)
(4) 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper (DSP) – 2 matching pieces for the box
(5) 8 ½”x 11” Sheets of Colored Cardstock
(5) 8 ½”x 11” Sheets of White Cardstock
(5) A2 Envelopes
(1) Post-it Pad
(1) Pen
You will start by cutting and scoring all the pieces.
Main Box
CS 10” x 12” (Score on the long side at 5” & 7”; on the short side at 2” & 8”; then ¾” & 9 ¼” to the first score line only.)
DSP (4) 4 ¾” x 5 ¾”; (4) 4 ¾” x 1 ¾”; (4) 4 ¾” x 1”
• Burnish the cardstock on all the score lines.
• Clip the score lines at 5” & 7” to form the flaps to create the box bottom.
• Fold the flaps in and attach with your favorite adhesive. Personally, I find that Tear & Tape makes the box more sturdy, but feel free to use adhesive or glue if you prefer.
• On the upper piece of the cardstock, cut on the ¾” & 9 ¼” score lines and discard the pieces (see image).
Large Card Divider
CS 8 1/2” x 4 ¼” (Score on long side at 1 ¼” & 7 ¼”; score on short side at 3”)
DSP 5 ¾” x 2 ¾”
• Burnish the cardstock on all the score lines.
• Clip the score lines and remove the squares at the bottom (see image).
Attach the bottom of the large card divider to the bottom of the box (see image).
Fold the sides of the large card divider in and attach to the side flaps of the box (see image).
Note Card Divider
CS 5 ½” x 2” (Score on long side at ½”, 1”, 4 ½” & 5”)
DSP 3 ¼” x 1 ¾”
Tag Divider
CS 4 ½” x 2” (Score on long side at ½”, 1”, 3 ½” & 4”)
DSP 2 ¼” x 1 ¾”
• Burnish both cardstock pieces on all the score lines.
• Attach the sides of the pieces to the front of the large card divider (see image).
Decorate the box
• Attach the DSP to the box. If the DSP is directional, ensure the pieces are facing the correct direction.
• I prefer to use glue when adhering the DSP to the box. Liquid glue is more forgiving and allows the pieces to be moved after placement if they are off a little.
• Embellish as desired. Note: you won’t want to add anything bulky to the outside of the front flap. It needs to remain flat when it is open for easy writing.
Pen Holder
CS 3 ½” x 2” (Score long side every ½”)
• Burnish the cardstock on the score lines.
• The piece will naturally roll into a tube. Adhere the ends together and attach to the front flap (see image).
• Decorate as desired.
Post-it Pad Cover
CS 4 ½” x 3 1/4” (Score on long side at ½” & 1”)
Mat 3 ¼” x 3 ¾”
DSP 3” x 3 1/2”
• Burnish the cardstock on the score lines.
• Attach the top of the cardstock to the lower flap of the box (see image).
Post-it Pad
• Adhere the post-it pad under the flap.
• Decorate as desired.
Box Top
CS 6” x 10 1/8” (scored at 2” on all sides)
DSP 1 7/8” x 5 7/8”
(2) 1 ¾” x 5 7/8”
(2) 1 ¾” x 1 ¾”
• Burnish the cardstock on the score lines.
• Clip the score lines on the center panel to the first score line only (see image).
Box Top - Part 2
• Fold up the sides and attach the 3 panels on the end to each other to form the box lid (see image).
• Decorate with the DSP.
• Embellish as desired.
Cards, Notes & Tags - Cut the colored cardstock for the cards, notes, and tags.
Cards (5) 8 ½” x 5 ½” (Scored at 4 ¼”)
Notes (8) 6” x 3” (Score at 3”)
Tags (8) 3 ½” x 2” & DSP (8) 3 ¼” x 1 ¾”
Decorate the cards and tags a desired. I intentionally left my cards simple. I didn't want to stifle anyone's creativity. Have fun embellishing!!!
